Run a PSindex debrief
Create a live debrief from any group in a PSindex survey's heatmap, set up the comparison and discussion questions, and present it while participants answer from their own devices.
A debrief turns PSindex® results into a guided conversation. It presents one group’s results step by step, compares them to a benchmark or another group, and pauses for discussion questions that participants answer from their phones.
Before you start
Anyone who can see a survey’s results can make a debrief: admins, and people the results are shared with from the Sharing tab. If results are shared with you for part of the organization, you can debrief any group within that part. See Share survey results.
Each debrief belongs to the person who made it. Nobody else sees, edits, or presents your debriefs, including admins, so each facilitator makes their own.
How do I create a debrief?
- Open the survey’s results and go to the Heatmap or Org chart.
- Set up the group you want with Group by and Add filter, then select its row. Select Aggregate to debrief the whole survey.
- In the Report panel, select Debrief.
- Name the debrief, choose what to compare against under Comparison, and confirm the segment shown.
Once you’ve made a debrief, a Debriefs toggle appears above the grid. Switch to it to see your debriefs, and select any debrief to open its settings panel.
Can I debrief one team instead of everyone?
Yes. A debrief uses whatever row you selected, so it can cover one team, one department, a leader’s downline, or any filtered group. Create a separate debrief for each group you plan to present. For help building the group, see Segment, filter, and save views.
How do I change the comparison?
Open the debrief’s settings panel and choose a new option under Comparison. The options include the LeaderFactor Global benchmark, an industry benchmark when one applies, Everyone in this survey, and the same group in an earlier survey. If results are shared with you for part of the organization, you can also compare against everyone in that part. You can change the comparison any time before you present.
Where do the themes come from?
When you create a debrief, themes are generated with AI from the group’s written comments, one set per stage. They stay the same each time you open the debrief, so you can prepare ahead. If new comments have come in, select Regenerate beside Themes in the settings panel. A stage needs at least 3 written comments for themes, and the debrief says so when a stage has fewer.
During the debrief, themes appear under Verbatim comment themes. When the survey shows written comments, select the comment count to open the comments themselves, grouped by prompt. To read the comments outside a debrief, see Read the qualitative responses.
Can I change the discussion questions?
Yes. The debrief pauses for discussion after the overall score and after each of the four stages. In the settings panel, choose up to three of the suggested questions for each pause, write your own, or turn a pause off.
How do participants join?
Select Open debrief. It always opens on the welcome screen, which shows a QR code, a link, and a join code. Participants scan the code, or open the link and enter the code, then give their name and email. Their name and email are only for you and are never connected to their survey answers.
The joined count shows how many are connected. Select Start the debrief when you’re ready. People can keep joining after you start: select Show QR beside the connected count to bring the join code back up, and Close to hide it.
How do I move through the debrief?
Scroll, or use the arrow keys. The debrief opens with The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety™, then shows who responded and how to read the scores. From there it moves to the overall score and the comparison, then through each stage in depth with its highest, middle, and lowest items and its themes. It closes on next steps, including training and how to reach your LeaderFactor customer success manager.
The debrief is designed for a laptop-sized screen or larger. If your window is too small or your browser is zoomed in, it shows a notice with the shortcut to reset the zoom.
Where do participants’ answers go?
At each discussion stop, participants’ phones show that stop’s questions. They type an answer and select Send. Between stops, their phones ask them to watch the screen. They can answer earlier questions or change an answer with See all your answers.
Answers stay off the screen until you choose to show them. At a discussion stop, select Show responses to open the room’s answers to that stop’s questions. Switch between This session and All sessions to include rooms from earlier presentations. All answers also collect in the debrief’s settings panel for you to review afterward.
How do I delete a debrief?
On the Debriefs list, select the trash icon on the debrief’s row and confirm, or select Delete debrief in its settings panel. Deleting a debrief doesn’t affect the survey or its results.
