Reset or set your password

Regain access when you're locked out, and pick a password the platform will accept.

Reset a forgotten password

  1. On the sign-in page, enter your email and select Next.
  2. Follow the password-reset option. The platform emails you a link to create a new password.
  3. Open the link and enter your new password.

If you’d rather skip the reset entirely, request a secure login link instead (see Use a secure login link) and change your password later from Settings.

Change your password while signed in

  1. Open Settings from the bottom of the left navigation.
  2. In the password section, enter your current password and your new password.
  3. Save.

Password requirements

The rules are shown under the password field, and a refused password tells you which rule it broke.

  • At least 12 characters, and no more than 256.
  • Not a password found in a data breach. The platform checks new passwords against known breached-password lists, even if they meet the length rule.
  • Not your name, your email address, or “LeaderFactor”.

There are no rules about mixing numbers, symbols, or capitals. A short phrase of several unrelated words is long, memorable, and accepted.

If you’re asked to set a new password when you sign in

If the password you sign in with turns up in a known data breach, the platform signs you in and then asks you to choose a new password before you can continue. The screen explains why. Pick a new password that meets the rules above.

If your organization uses single sign-on

Your password lives with your company’s identity provider, not LeaderFactor. Reset it through your company’s normal IT process — the steps above won’t apply.
